Soundings May 2011

May 2011

Greetings from Hilton Head Island!  We hope that you are having good weather wherever you are.  At The Spa it has been a beautiful spring with temps in the 80’s and bright sunshine.

We invite you to check out our Facebook page: spaon port royalsound.  We use it to give you real time updates on things going on at any given time in our community. We also have a new WordPress site:  We will be using this site as a way of giving our residents and owners updates on community news, events and happenings. We hope you like it.  Of course we still have our website

Now that the warm weather is back we would like to remind you that the outdoor pools are open between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm.  The indoor pool is open between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm and the fitness room is open between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm.

We invite you to take advantage of our shuffleboard court and our tennis courts between 8:00 am and dusk.  The key to the tennis courts is available at the security gate and the shuffleboard equipment is stored in the white box adjacent to the shuffleboard court.

We hope you have seen the renovation that was done to the landscaping behind H and I Buildings.  There are new walking paths, new grills and new grass has been planted.  The Spa would like to thank the volunteers who made this project happen.  Your work is appreciated by us all.

Maintenance is in the process of updating the landscaping at the front entrance.  They have transplanted the ferns to locations at the front of E and H Buildings and have created new flower beds.  We are updating the lighting and will be working on the entire center island within the next few weeks.  When you see orange traffic cones at the entrance and exit please be aware that people are working in the area.  Please be careful.

Don’t forget that it is turtle season.  The lights on the pier and the observation deck will be turned off until October 31, 2011.  This is the law.

Attention to all residents of Phase II (A, B, C, D).  On June 6, 2011 Champion Fire Protection will be conducting an inspection of all of our fire sprinklers.  This inspection is required by law.  They will need to access all of the units in Phase II at some time during the day.  Their inspector will be accompanied by a member of our maintenance staff.  You do not need to be present for this inspection.  Look for updated information and reminders on our Facebook page or on our websites.

Remember, if you have a guest coming to your unit, you must call in a pass for them at the Security Gate;   they must present a valid driver’s license at the gate when they receive their pass.  If they do not have a valid driver’s license (from any state or country) they will not be permitted to drive onto the property.  If you have guests coming in you may also send an email to Security requesting a pass.  We recommend at least 24 hours’ notice if you use this method.

Airport Update:  Here is a letter from Drew Laughlin, Mayor of Hilton Head, to Spa owners in response to a letter written by President of the Board Cynthia Macalister:

Please remember to check with the HOA Office before doing renovations to your unit.  Also make sure that you or your contractor gets the proper permits for the work being done.  The City of Hilton Head will shut down your project without the proper permits.
